BSRM Member launches Brain and Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Initiative for Kent & Medway

On October 16th, British Society of Rehabilitation Member and Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine, Dr Mohamed Sakel, launched the Kent & Medway Brain & Spinal cord Rehabilitation Initiative in the House of Commons.  Rosie Duffield (MP, Canterbury) welcomed and opened the meeting and invited Dr Sakel to introduce the agenda and outline the key objectives of this initial gathering.

Dr Sakel identified the primary objective as the invitation and establishment of a task force to explore ways to enhance service provision for brain injury neuro-rehabilitation within the County.

Chris Bryant (MP, Rhondda) called for an urgent task force across all Government departments to be set up to address the issues, referred to in the Time for Change Report – Acquired Brain Injury and Neuro-rehabilitation published in September 2018.  We would invite and encourage all to read this National Report which is endorsed by the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine.
